                                               SUMMARY

2020 marks the 20th anniversary since the creation of the Geodesy, Cartography
and Cadastre Agency. The historical development of the subject began as early as
1643, when it was the first known cartographic work made by a Bulgarian - the

map of Petar Bogdan Baksev (Bakšić).

Later, the history continued during the Russo-Turkish War at the end of 1827
when all previous Russian-Turkish treaties were abolished and the Sultan pro-
claimed a holy war against Russia. The war is fought on two fronts - the Balkans
and the Caucasus. Two cards were issued in the capital of the Russian Empire,
Saint Petersburg - one for Bulgaria and the other for Bulgaria, Wallachia and Ru-
               melia.

In 1840, the results of routing surveys of the French geologist Ami Boue - Ami
(Amedee) Boue were published, representing a geological sketch and synthesis of
the collected data, indicated by visitors and travellers. Boue also compiled a geo-
logical map of M 1: 2 500 000 on the Balkan Peninsula (European Turkey), print-               241
